Kathryn Tyler

Instructor: Kathryn Tyler Weeks, M.A. received her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Univ. of California, San Diego in 1992 and her master’s degree in American Literature from San Diego State University in 1994.

Kathryn is an author and freelance writer who has written magazine articles for the last twenty-four years for many major publications, including HRMagazine, Woman’s Day, Good Housekeeping, FamilyFun, and others.  She is the co-author of Guerrilla Saving: Secrets for Keeping Profits in Your Home-Based Business (John Wiley and Sons, 2000) and the author of the eBooks Convince Your Husband to Homeschool (Kindle Publishing, 2009) and Homeschooling High School: Reverse Engineering for Success (Kindle Publishing, 2016).  She is currently working on a non-fiction eBook about college applications for homeschoolers and a middle-grade historical fiction novel about Detroit in 1932 during Prohibition and the Great Depression.

She has taught composition at Univ. of California, San Diego; San Diego State University; Oakland Community College, Highland Lakes Campus; and in the private sector.  She is also a homeschooling mom (fifteen years) and co-founder of a large local homeschool support group..

Kathryn homeschooled her two children from kindergarten through high school graduation.  She loves to read, swim, and travel.  She enjoys visiting museums and dissecting biology specimens.  She lives in Southeastern Michigan with her husband of 23 years and their dog.
